Cheaper Abroad
What things cost in Da Nang, Bangkok and Budapest against what they cost at home. Every price is a dated observation from a named source, nothing is ever deleted, and a quarterly report freezes the whole database.
cheaper-abroad.com compares the price of things you need done anyway (dental work, glasses, blood tests, vaccines, scans, a made-to-measure suit) in Da Nang, Bangkok and Budapest with the price at home in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, the US or Australia.
What makes it different
- Every number is one price, from one provider, on one date, from a named source. Almost every local price links to the page it was read from.
- Each price says who produced it: the seller, a receipt, someone else, or an estimate. Estimates never set a headline.
- Nothing is deleted. A new observation is added next to the old one, so prices grow a history.
- Providers are ranked from the data alone. Paid placement sits in a fixed slot outside the list and the ranking code cannot read it. No commission on anything.
- A quarterly price report freezes the whole database at quarter end, so it can be cited and the figures do not move.
How the data is gathered is written up in Cheaper Abroad: How the Price Data Is Built and on the site’s own method page.
